☑ During the October-June 2017/18 season, European Union countries exported 2.7 million tons of sugar, compared with 0.92 million tons for the corresponding period last season.
☑ This was due to the abolition of quotas for the production of sugar in the EU, said analyst of the sugar market S & P Global Platts (Kingsman) Daniel Rebel during the conference “Trade and Export of Sugar 2018”, reports AgroTimes.
☑ Although after the abolition of quotas, the export of European sugar has grown significantly, the markets for its exports have not changed.
☑ Most of the EU sugar is exported to the Mediterranean or to West Africa. The main buyer of European sugar is Egypt, the expert added.
